**Independent educational resource:** This is not an NMC website or a clinical training
accreditation provider. Regulatory requirements must be checked on the official
NMC site. Clinical procedures must be learned in a supervised training environment.
Practice Mode question banks are separate and may not yet cover every page.

Evidence-informed nursing skill guides organised around purpose, preparation, supervised
workflow, patient safety, documentation, clinical reasoning and OSCE readiness.
Content is educational and does not authorise procedures without formal training
and workplace policy.

**How to use this library:** Choose a topic, learn the background and limitations,
study the comparison table and flowchart, then apply the clinical case. Practice
questions are kept exclusively in [Practice Mode](https://mynursinghub.com/nursing-mcqs/)
and not embedded inside articles.

**Study a skill, then practise a scenario:** Our [free adult nursing OSCE simulation library](https://mynursinghub.com/osce-stations/)
includes ten original stations with learning notes, worked examples, timed drills,
and independent review checklists. The mock stations are for education and are not
official NMC examinations.

## Academic and professional safety

Clinical procedures require supervision, assessed competence and local policy. Regulatory
rules change and must be checked on official NMC pages. These resources are pending
Faizan’s editorial review, and they do not substitute for direct clinical supervision
or official guidance.

**Guidelines:** [WHO hand hygiene training tools](https://www.who.int/teams/integrated-health-services/infection-prevention-control/hand-hygiene/training-tools);
[NICE infection prevention](https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg139/chapter/recommendations);

## Which clinical nursing skill should you study?

If you are preparing for the UK nursing practical examination, combine these clinical
principles with our [NMC OSCE preparation and mock-station guide](https://mynursinghub.com/uk-nmc-preparation/nmc-osce-preparation-clinical-stations-for-nursing/).
Clinical competence and local policy remain essential; these resources are educational
aids rather than a substitute for supervised practice.

A nursing procedure guide should help a student understand **why the skill is needed,
what must be assessed first, how patient safety is maintained and what to document
afterwards**. Supervised practical competence cannot be demonstrated by reading
an online article or passing an MCQ quiz.

**Professional safeguards:** establish patient identity, explain the activity and
seek appropriate consent, apply infection-prevention measures, work within assessed
competence and escalate unexpected findings. For invasive devices, medication administration
or complex wounds, follow approved local protocols and a qualified supervisor rather
than treating website descriptions as operating instructions.

Read alongside [CDC Standard Precautions](https://www.cdc.gov/infection-control/hcp/basics/standard-precautions.html)
and the [NMC Code](https://www.nmc.org.uk/standards/code/). These are educational
connections; Faizan’s clinical review remains pending.

## How to use the clinical procedures library safely

Begin with the indication, contraindications and patient assessment, then review
equipment, supervised technique principles, hazards, documentation and the worked
scenario. Skills that involve invasive devices, medication or wound manipulation
require local authorisation and competent supervision. These lessons are independent
study material; passing a self-assessment does not certify practical competence.
